A concert with Paolo Fresu & Daniele Bonaventura featuring early medieval Nordic music and songs performed by musicians from Ensemble Mare Balticum.
This special concert is co-produced by the European Music Archaeology Project (EMAP) – coordinated by the Municipality of Tarquinia, Italy, and the Ystad Jazz Festival.
It will be performed at Ystad Abbey within the framework of EMAP’s travelling exhibition Archæomusica, which will be held there from 6 June 6 to 8 January.
The concert will feature an additional section where ancient Greek music and the earliest Nordic songs meet present-day jazz from southern Europe – Italy!
The ancient scores will be performed by musicians from the Ensemble Mare Balticum –a Swedish group specializing in early music – side by side with the Italian duo’s improvisations. Ensemble Mare Balticum is managed by the Swedish EMAP co-organiser, Musik i Syd.
