This concert features a new constellation of leading Swedish jazz stars brought together especially by YSJF to celebrate jazz legend Charlie Parker.

The American alto and tenor saxophonist Charlie Parker (1920-1955), who would have been 100 years this year, wrote jazz classics such as “Scrapple from the Apple”, “Yardbird Suite” and “Anthropology”, and, with Dizzy Gillespie, invented the musical style bebop.

Tonight’s outstanding line-up includes three sax players: tenor saxophonist Karl-Marin Almkvist, alto saxophonist Amanda Sedgwick and the young Danish alto saxophonist, Oilly Wallace.

Trumpeter Anders Bergcrantz has performed and recorded with many big names in international jazz such as Dave Liebman, Billy Harper and McCoy Tyner.

Vivian Buczek, one of Sweden’s leading vocalists, has released six albums. The latest “Ella Lives” (2017), featured songs made famous by Ella Fitzgerald.
