Get in the swing at Ystad Saltsjöbad when the Gotland Big Band plays a new dynamic repertoire written by drummer and hometown boy Marcus Grufstedt.
Marcus Grufstedt is Ystad born and bred. He is a third-generation drummer and started playing at the age of three in his grandfather’s basement in the late 1970s. Since 1999, he has lived and worked on Gotland as a percussionist/drummer and arranger for the regional music organisation Gotlandsmusiken.
In 2020, Marcus Grufstedt fulfilled his dream of writing and arranging a complete big band album when, in collaboration with the Gotland Big Band under the name Mac Groover, he released of the album “Chopsless”.
Today’s Gotland Big Band line-up includes the outstanding Cuban percussionist, Eliel Lazo, who has worked with many international big bands as well as musicians such as Herbie Hancock and Bob Mintzer.
