The Mare Nostrum project began in 2005 as an experiment with just three concerts in Sweden that brought together a trio of leading figures from European jazz.
Now this highly distinctive line up of Sardinian trumpeter Paolo Fresu, French ac-cordionist Richard Galliano and Swedish pianist Jan Lundgren is celebrating 20 years of collaboration and the release of their fourth album “Mare Nostrum IV”.
The 12 tracks on “Mare Nostrum IV” are songs that the three musicians have written or arranged for each other and include the timeless “La Vie en Rose”, the signature song of Edith Piaf. The trio combine their influences from folk, classical and popular music with the freedom of jazz to present a truly diverse repertoire, but the emphasis is always on beautiful melodies.
