The Wonder Brass Band from France is a dynamic female quartet with diverse musical backgrounds and influences that has developed an eclectic repertoire, mixing original compositions with jazz, funk and Latin rhythms.
The band was formed in Toulouse in 2001. All four members continue to absorb new musical trends into their compositions and arrangements for the special combination of saxophone, trombone, sousaphone and percussion.
Among their wide-ranging world music influences are the tangos of Serbian composer and multi-instrumentalist Boris Kovac; the sweet melodies of “the barefoot diva” from Cape Verde, Cesaria Evora; the spirited jazz of Cuban percussionist Mongo Santamaria and the driving funk of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band from New Orleans.
