With a unique ability to make every song entirely her own\, she moves with ease between American jazz standards\, Nordic folk songs and newly written music. She is also a warmly welcomed returning guest at Ystad Sweden Jazz Festival. \nSince the release of her debut album Blue Light in 1994\, Victoria Tolstoy has been one of the brightest stars on the Swedish jazz scene. Her international breakthrough came through her collaboration with the German record label ACT Music\, where she has recorded a series of acclaimed albums alongside some of Europe’s leading jazz musicians\, including Nils Landgren\, Esbjörn Svensson\, Jacob Karlzon\, Iiro Rantala and Jan Lundgren. \nVictoria Tolstoy’s music is characterised by both elegance and intimacy. Whether interpreting a timeless jazz classic or performing a newly composed melody\, she conveys a warmth\, playfulness and sincerity that leaves a lasting impression on her audience. With her natural charisma and unmistakably personal style\, she has become one of the Nordic region’s most admired jazz artists – a singer who always leaves her mark\, both on stage and in the hearts of those who listen. \nAnders Berglund is one of Sweden’s most distinguished conductors\, pianists\, composers and arrangers\, and a true giant of Swedish entertainment. Television audiences came to know him as the musical director of several editions of the Swedish Eurovision selection\, Melodifestivalen\, and as chief conductor of the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö in 1992\, as well as through numerous music and entertainment programmes. For more than four decades\, he has collaborated with Sweden’s leading artists and played a central role in Swedish musical life\, working across pop\, rock\, musicals and big band jazz. \nIn today’s concert\, Victoria Tolstoy and the Anders Berglund Big Band present a programme drawn from The Great American Songbook.
