DESCRIPTION:Biljett/Ticket\nIvan Lins (BR) – piano\, vocals \nBand TBA \nThe festival’s Guest of Honour\, songwriter\, vocalist and pianist Ivan Lins\, has been one of the leading figures in Brazilian popular music and jazz for over five decades. The multiple Latin Grammy-winning musician is the most-recorded Brazilian artist living abroad. His songs have been covered by a multitude of international stars over the years\, such as Sarah Vaughan\, George Benson\, Ella Fitzgerald\, Quincy Jones\, Barbra Streisand and Sting. \nIvan Lins initially attracted attention with his first hit composition “Madalena”\, recorded by Elis Regina in 1970. He is a prolific songwriter and has recorded over 40 albums. Several of his compositions have become jazz standards including “Love Dance”\, “Velas Içadas” and “Começar de Novo” (Starting Over)\, a song that in the English lyric version is called “The Island”.

The band recorded two highly varied cover albums “Magnus Carlson & The Moon Ray Quintet” (2009) and “Echoes” (2010). \nAfter a hiatus of 15 years\, Magnus Carlson & The Moon Ray Quintet returned for their third album “Shadows” (2025). And the selection of song sources is as diverse as ever\, from Al Jolson and Sufjan Stevens to Scott Walker and David Bowie.

And this year is something special – the newest venue for the festival jam sessions is Sweden’s oldest hotel\, Hotel Continental du Sud. \nThe house band this year is the Aaron Mandelman Trio\, led by bassist and composer Aaron Mandelmann\, a Malmo-based musician\, who has toured widely in Scandinavia and Europe. Pianist for the Wednesday session is Ebba Dankel\, an award-winning pianist who is currently studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. For the second and third sessions\, Sven Erik Lundeqvist\, who led the festival’s jam session so succesfully for many years\, returns at the keyboard. Providing the pulse for all three sessions is drummer\, Pontus Häggblom.

They have worked together extensively in many different ensembles over the years and released a duo album “Jazz Poetry” in 2022. \nHighly-regarded saxophonist Rosario Giuliani has released a number of albums including “Cinema Italia” (2016)\, a celebration of Italian film music. \nJazz drummer Roberto Gatto has performed with a multitude of major names as a sideman such as Chet Baker\, Joe Zawinul\, Joe Lovano and Paolo Fresu.

His music moves freely between jazz\, Nordic folk music\, and classical sounds\, and is characterized by a warm\, lyrical\, and personal expression. Nilsson has collaborated with a number of international jazz musicians and is known for his improvisations in which Nordic melancholy meets spontaneous creativity. \nJimmi Roger Pedersen is regarded as one of Denmark’s most virtuosic double bassists. He studied at Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium under the legendary bassist Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen\, and throughout his career he has toured internationally for many years together with the pianist Horace Parlan\, as well as performed with jazz greats such as Lee Konitz and Benny Bailey. He has appeared on more than one hundred recordings and has also released several acclaimed solo albums. \nIn this exclusive duo\, piano and double bass meet in their most stripped-down form. There is nothing to hide behind—only two musicians in an intense dialogue where every note counts. And this year is something special – the newest venue for the festival jam sessions is Sweden’s oldest hotel\, Hotel Continental du Sud. \nThe house band this year is the Aaron Mandelman Trio\, led by bassist and composer Aaron Mandelmann\, a Malmo-based musician\, who has toured widely in Scandinavia and Europe. Pianist for the Wednesday session is Ebba Dankel\, an award-winning pianist who is currently studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. For the second and third sessions\, Sven Erik Lundeqvist\, who led the festival’s jam session so succesfully for many years\, returns at the keyboard. Providing the pulse for all three sessions is drummer\, Pontus Häggblom.

He collaborated with Jan Garbarek in the 1970s and during the 1990s recorded albums with artists such as Charles Lloyd and Tomasz Stańko. \nThe current Bobo Stenson Trio\, with members Anders Jormin on bass and Jon Fält on drums\, has been together since 2008. The band’s music builds on conventional jazz\, combining inspiration from Afro-Cuban grooves\, Latin American rhythms and soulful gospel melodies. \nConsidered one of Europe’s finest alto saxophonists\, Fredrik Kronkvist is an award-winning musician who has released 25 albums as a leader with international musicians such as Gregory Hutchinson\, Jason Marsalis\, Aaron Goldberg and Adam Nussbaum. His album releases in 2025 included “Fonk”\, “Out of the Blue” and “Wired in South Africa.”

DESCRIPTION:Aaron Mandelmann – bass\nEbba Dankel / Sven Erik Lundeqvist – piano\nPontus Häggblom – drums \nThe jam session is a popular late-night element of the jazz festival that has popped up in various locations around Ystad over the years. And this year is something special – the newest venue for the festival jam sessions is Sweden’s oldest hotel\, Hotel Continental du Sud. \nThe house band this year is the Aaron Mandelman Trio\, led by bassist and composer Aaron Mandelmann\, a Malmo-based musician\, who has toured widely in Scandinavia and Europe. Pianist for the Wednesday session is Ebba Dankel\, an award-winning pianist who is currently studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. For the second and third sessions\, Sven Erik Lundeqvist\, who led the festival’s jam session so succesfully for many years\, returns at the keyboard. Providing the pulse for all three sessions is drummer\, Pontus Häggblom.
