DESCRIPTION:Since 1748\, Ystad’s tower watchman has looked out over the town to check that all is well during the night. Each year a festival tower watchman is selected. This year trumpeter Nils Petter Molvær will climb the 107 narrow steps in St. Mary’s Church tower to play the fanfare.

DESCRIPTION:Biljett/Ticket\nNils Petter Molvær (NO) – trumpet\, electronics \nThe world-famous Norwegian trumpeter\, composer and producer Nils Petter Molvær presents his unique mix of swirling trumpet improvisation and innovative electronic backing at this late-night solo concert in the atmospheric setting of Ystad’s St Mary’s Church. \nNils Peter Molvær made his big breakthrough with “Khmer” (1997)\, a solo album that established him as a pioneer of future jazz – a blend of jazz and electronic music. He has continued to incorporate other musical genres that augment solo trumpet in a series of albums including “NP3” (2005) and “Baboon Moon” (2011). His latest release is “Khmer (Live in Bergen)” (2025). \nIn 2018\, Nils Petter Molvær gave one of the most memorable performances in the history of the Ystad Sweden Jazz Festival with his solo sunrise concert at Ales Stenar.
