The musical journey of well-known Swedish producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Björn Yttling has taken him from jazz to pop – and back again.
The first Yttling Jazz album ”Oh Lord Why Can’t I Keep My Big Mouth Shut” was released in 2005. Twenty years later Björn Yttling returned to jazz with Yyttling Jazz’s follow-up album “Illegal Hit” (2025).
Between jazz albums, Björn Yttling became a major creative figure in the world of indie pop and a collaborator with an array of artists in the pop and rock world such as Chrissie Hynde, Franz Ferdinand, Primal Scream and Robyn.
Reviewing the new Yttling Jazz live, Lira Magasin summed up the performance as: “Swinging, groovy, cool, funky. Björn Yttling’s combination of windsept Jan Johansson-tinged folk melodies and cinematic jazz with a 1960s feel is striking and effective.”
