One of the world’s leading harmonica players meets one of the world’s best big bands when Mathias Heise and the DR Big Band join forces for this evening concert at Ystads Teater.

Their latest collaboration “A Love Supreme Revisited” (2026) reinterprets music from John Coltrane’s jazz masterpiece “A Love Supreme” (1965). This year sees the 100th anniversary of John Coltrane’s birth.

Danish harmonica virtuoso, composer and arranger Mathias Heise has a long list of awards, including first place in the 2013 Chromatic Harmonica World Championship, when he was 20.

The DR Big Band (Danish Radio Big Band) was founded in Copenhagen in 1964 The band has had many major international guest soloists over the years including Stan Getz, Miles Davis, Mike Stern and Richard Bona.
