Naima is a jazz sextet that celebrates the music of one of the greatest figures in jazz history, John Coltrane, who would have turned 100 in 2026. With roots in Bollnäs Folk High School, the band interprets music from Coltrane’s rich repertoire in new exciting arrangements. Drawing inspiration from the Nordic jazz tradition, they play  songs from classic albums such as “Blue Train” (1958), “Giant Steps” (1960) and “Coltrane’s Sound” (1964). John Coltrane wrote the jazz ballad “Naima” – named after his then-wife, Juanita Naima Grubbs – in 1959. The song, included on the album “Giant Steps”, has become a jazz standard.
